And Now, Ubuntu for Tablets - Wait, What?

Six weeks have passed since Canonical's splashy debut of Ubuntu for phones, but for many here in the Linux blogosphere, the memory is still crystal-clear. It came as some surprise, then, to see follow-up news announced so soon afterward. The news this time? None other than Ubuntu for tablets.

North Korea Widens 3G Coverage - for Outsiders Only

North Korea is modernizing its technologies -- as only North Korea can. Foreigners are now able to bring their phones -- with the caveat that they must purchase North Korean sim cards upon arrival. Now Koryolink, a North Korean mobile phone provider, plans to launch a 3G data service -- but only foreigners can use it.

Lockheed Martin powers up its first GPS III satellite, stays on track for 2014

Lockheed Martin powers up its first GPS III satellite, brings accurate positioning that much closer

It's been awhile since we heard much about Lockheed Martin's GPS III satellite family beyond mention of an early prototype. The next-gen positioning system just took a big step forward with word that the company has successfully powered up the first production craft of the bunch, Space Vehicle One. Flicking the switch clears it for testing and keeps the GPS III program's 2014 launch window within view. More importantly, the activation takes us one step closer to improved GPS accuracy for civilians and soldiers alike.

Linux Admin Tips, Tricks and Tools of the Trade

Here in the Linux community, most of us enjoy high-level debates about strategies and trends just as much as the next technology enthusiast does. At the end of the day, however, it seems safe to say that what we tend to relish most of all is a good ol' nuts-and-bolts discussion of the tools and tricks of the trade.

HTC Zoe Share site goes live to show off new HTC One camera feature

HTC Zoe Share

HTC has been pushing the new camera features included in Sense 5, and one of the most interesting ones (pardon the pun) is HTC Zoe. It's honestly not the easiest thing to explain, and is best seen in its full form, which HTC is helping out with by putting up its "HTC Zoe Share" site today for all to see. The basic idea is to take multiple pictures and video clips at the same time, and then let the software stitch them, add filters, transitions and music. The end result is likely to make a more enjoyable piece of footage than what you'd normally get out of a smart phone camera.

Head to the source link below to see one of the headline Zoes from the HTC One launch event, which shows off what this feature is capable of. The entire piece is just 30 seconds (as Zoes will be), but tells a bit of a story in just a short time. We can only imagine what some real artists will be able to do with this once it hits consumer's hands.

Stick with us after the break to see our hands-on with the HTC One as well, where Phil makes his best attempt at explaining how to use the new Zoe feature.

Now you can export PDFs with Day One journal for iPhone and iPad

Now you can export PDFs with Day One journal for iPhone and iPad

Day One for iPhone and iPad, the popular journaling app by Bloom Built, has been updated with the ability to export your journal entries as a PDF that can then be sent to iBooks, Dropbox, your printer, and more.

To create a PDF, you go to Settings > Export to PDF. You can then choose a date range and if you want to only include entries containing specific tags. The created PDF looks just like how your entries look in the app. To share to other apps, just tap the Share button in the upper right hand corner. Any apps with PDF support that you have installed will appear on the list, including print.

Some other new features of Day One include a new reminder sound, Sanchez as a font option, improved header and HTML styling, and historical weather has increased from 3 days to 30 days.

This update of Day One has also added a faster startup time, improved Dropbox sync for large journals, refactored and improved sound effects, and reorganized Settings.

In the update notes of Day One for iPhone and iPad, they have also promised to update the Mac version soon with location, weather, tags, and more.

If you're a Day One user, go grab the update now. Do you plan to use the new PDF export feature? What do you think of the other new features? Personally, I'm just excited for the Mac update -- been waiting for it forever!
